3. Current Account

 

A special type of bank account operated by traders, businessmen, corporate bodies and others who operate the account frequently is known as a “Current Account”.  Funds can be transferred from Fixed Deposits to the current account whenever needed for meeting immediate cash requirements. Free cheque book of 50 leaves every year can be supplied for the current account holders. Following are the features of a current account:

 

  1. Minimum balance is Rs. 500 in rural and semi-urban areas and Rs. 1,000 in urban areas and metros.
  2. Account is not eligible for interest.
  3. There is no ceiling on the number of withdrawals and credits.
  4. Passbook, pass sheet, standing instructions and cheque collection facilities are available.
  5. Helps in supporting day-to-day financial requirements.
    • Gives the advantage of maximum financial leverage for the customer’s money thus saving on the time and cost.
